Women only unless the guy is a Dr, nurse or nurse practictioner Thanks

Gestational diabetes usually develops between the 24th and 28th weeks of pregnancy, when doctors give pregnant women a glucose screening test.

The risk of gestational diabetes causing serious problems in the fetus is low, and most babies do well unless the disease is not controlled. The most important thing you can do to minimize the risk to your fetus once your gestational diabetes is diagnosed is to keep your blood sugar level as low as possible. When problems do occur, the most common are high birth weight, difficult delivery and a higher risk of delivery by cesarean section.

i think i have diabetes?

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

hi, hello (:
er, basically, this question is about me thinking i have diabetes. im going to list the symptoms of diabetes below, and put a * next to the ones that i have.

frequent urination *
excessive thirst and hunger *
weight loss * (not much though)
dehydration
recurrent infections *
sores and cuts that are slow to heal *
irritability *
weakness and fatigue *
drowsiness
blurry vision *
dry mouth
dry and itchy skin *
tingling or numbness in hands and feet
nausea and severe yeast infections in young women
darkening of the skin around the neck or armpits (acanthosis nigricans)

im not sure what to do. because i do have alot of of the symptons.. but i dont want to tell my mum just yet in case she gets too worried over nothing. a few months back i had a few of the symptons.. and when i went for a blood test, it came back with anemia? or something along those lines. it basically meens my blood didnt have enough iron in it. they gave me some tablets and i was fine again.

do you think i do have diabetes and should i go get it checked out? or am i worring about nothing?

Well, you seem to have copied the symptoms pretty well from whatever site(s) you’ve been looking at.

I will tell you now that most diabetics do NOT experience all of the symptoms … or, at least, not for a long time they don’t.

The ONLY way you’re going to find out for sure is by having your blood tested, either by your doctor, or at a pathology laboratory. Even then it’s ONLY a practising medical doctor that is legally entitled to diagnose you as having diabetes.

Whatever you decide to do, or whatever the outcome if you do decide to get tested, I wish you the very best of luck for a long, happy, healthy, complication-free life.
